This entry in my ongoing series of video blogs “Leadership in the Information Age,” is called “Trust and Empower.”
Resist the temptation to shepherd a team leader too closely, though it may be difficult to “let go.”
The key is to trust them to meet the goals you set and give them the power to do so.
Leaders require room to grow and learn, to make decisions and to make mistakes, and to develop their teams and themselves. This is their learning process.
Give them authority and responsibility and step back. See what they can do.
In this video, I explain the importance of authority, autonomy, and responsibility in developing your team and the next generation of leaders. Take two minutes to watch by clicking on the image below.
Trust and empower: and watch your team grow.
